Clay Doodling away

First inch swap doodle
Yes, I've been doodling with clay. It started when I was making inchies for a swap. I used cane slices and sculpted bits and pieces. I also had fun with mica powders.
Then, for my second swap, I did one inchie set with the cane slice mix, and one with just sculpted components, and of course the mica powders (they are addictive).

From there, I just went crazy. The following photo is a doodle created on a 4x6 inch ceramic tile. I'll probably mount it and frame it for my own enjoyment.

Then came cabochons... And after that, pendants created in store-bought metal bezels. I never would have guessed that sculpting would be so much fun!

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it!!

I finished some pieces, and had to photograph them in hand to show them off. It may take a few days for them to appear in my store (or maybe I'll get them photo'd and listed tomorrow, who knows!!) but watch for them!

Oh, an addendum to my excitement over entrecard dropping on my son's PC....

A couple of times, while using it, I encountered a glitch which caused the wireless connection to stop working. Now, I don't know if it was because of a virus on one of the entrecard sites or if it was a vista glitch, but I'm going back to my slooooowwww as molasses mac for the time being. My son can't afford to be without his computer!

(I'm so proud of him, 4.0 average over his first year in college!!! And now, he's in Calc III, Chemistry, and Physics....)

Fresh from the oven!

Nope. Not muffins. Muffins would sure smell better while they were baking!!

Some spacers, focal pendants... Some I need to sand and possibly buff. I feel kind of stuck, so I decided to make some of my - er - tried and true pieces, with dragonflies and blossoms. Some have Kelly's dewdrops in them, some have Swarovski chatons (sent to me by Becca).
The square-ish focal with the blue butterfly is a custom order for my friend Deb, along with the little round basketweave accents.
I'm particularly happy with the way this one turned out:
Freshwater pearls were wired in before curing. I'm ready to do more of these!!What do you think?

Butterfly Mania

It's a good time to shop at my etsy store if you are a fan of butterflies! I made quite a few this past month, and recently listed some of that "flock"!

Pendants

Another section in my etsy store is my pendants. I plan on listing a few more today. These pendants are ready to wear as is, or, in the case of the ones mounted on headpins, removed and made into your own creations...

One of my favorites is the Midsummer Night Romance pendant. it has a somewhat ethereal, almost watercolor look to it. There is a beautiful dichroic glass dewdrop as the center of one of the blossoms, made by my friend Kelly Keniston (kellyk on etsy). I love to see the way the various clear dichroic droplets interact with the color of the clay, and I'll fuss around to find just the right one from my rather large collection to "fit" the piece. Try it! You'll like it!

What I do when I'm not blogging....

I guess that would be too long for a blog post... or too short?

Not much, I'm afraid. I have been creating some beads, so I'll share 'em with you. This part of the pile 'o' beads I made recently has been sanded, but not dremel-buffed yet:

Sanded...

And this pile is probably going to stay matte:

And this little pile is going to get a good sanding tomorrow 'cause it's been playing in the mud (acrylic paint) *smile*:
